Zeke hurt...

We'll post pics later I'm sure, but Zeke and LAyla were playing in the backyard and one of her claws caught on his left cheek. He's got stitches. It wasn't pretty holding him down so they could sew up his face.

A word from a friend that I thought I'd share with everyone out there...

Consider carefully the decisions you make at this time, for they will undoubtedly produce long-term consequences. Quiet your own soul, your mind and emotions, and allow your spirit to be influenced by My Spirit, says the Lord. If you will be sensitive to that still, small voice of wisdom, you will be directed to choose what is best for you and those around you. But, you must be still in order to perceive the influence of My Spirit.

Isaiah 30:21

Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, "This is the way, walk in it," whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left.

I get excited about weird stuff...

I decided today that my standard for joy must be a lot weirder that most peoples out there. I was working on church stuff like a fiend today and really loving it! I've got the next 2 sundays off of being the voice of our community (thanks Matt and Jeff), so it is allowing me to work ahead on our November and December sermons, & take care of some much-needed other areas of administration within the body. I have been on my computer for almost 4 hours and my eyes are red and burning with dry contacts, but I feel enthused by working on more chances to share Jesus' love in new and creative ways through our sermons during the holiday season...

It got me thinking about other things that bring forth JOY for me:
1- my daughter cackling
2- Zeke screaming for the tubas at the football games (go Panthers tonight!)
3- my wife cooking chicken stuff
4- my dog standing on her hind legs like a bear
5- fall
6- prayer
7- singing worship songs that have no chord progression, chorus or plan on a wednesday afternoon
8- drinking Kidd Coffee in a Starbucks mug
9- reading because I want to not have to
10- road trips

Above all I think we're happiest when we're doing God's will...

The pop-in...

Was a phrase Seinfeld coined a few years ago. A lot of people I know are not huge fans of the pop-in. I like it! I think it's great when friends decide to drop by for an unexpected short visit. In the end, most of us feel pretty loved and relieved to spend time with those that care about us. Finally, our college roomates Netta and Chad popped-in yesterday. It was a short visit with pizza, kids meeting each other for the first time and good convos. They were driving from Illinois to New Hampshire and we just happened to be in the way... thanks for stopping by guys.

The process is official...

When corrie lost her job in July, our finances got even tighter than they already were.
Now, the foreclosure process has officially begun on our home... yuck.
Trying to find a silver lining in all of this? Well, we feel like we can talk very honestly with others about what it's like to go through this mess.

Prayers needed.
